Our specialty is architectural and art fabrication, providing the personal service and extra attention to detail required when working with art materials, in particular unique and expensive materials where the job simply has to happen correctly the first time. In addition to the usual metals, we work with stone, wood, glass, ceramic, plastic and anything else that can be cut safely.

Meadow Creature LLC also provides welding, machining and related finishing services.

Our bread-and-butter is precision cutting of steel, aluminum and stainless steel for short production runs and prototypes, and glass and stone for art and architectural products. Waterjet is particularly cost-effective for short runs because revisions are easy and there is no tooling cost. While there's nothing special about cutting ordinary metals, we do offer an uncommon level of service and attention to detail, including custom fixture design and fabrication for jobs that ordinary workholding cannot accommodate.

Our machine's work envelope is 62" square. The catch tank can accommodate a workpiece up to 65" x 86" x 3" thick. Using our custom deep stone fixturing, we can cut stone up to 8" thick at 24" x 84". (The photo above shows through-cuts in a 6" thick marble slab weighing 600 lb.)

We work from whatever type of artwork best suits you. You can email DXF or AI (Adobe Illustrator) files, scans of paper drawings or photographs, or physically mail paper drawings, full-size or scale templates, or actual sample parts.

Waterjet cutting cost in general involves a one-time fee for artwork preparation, and a cut charge that can be quoted per part plus a fixed setup cost, or a flat cost per batch, as suits your needs.

If you must figure your own ballpark cost estimate before contacting us, we provide the following rough rules of thumb. The typical artwork and setup cost for a small job is $75, plus the actual cutting cost based on material type, thickness and required precision. 16ga mild steel or 1/8" aluminum tend to run about $1 per linear foot of cutting, with thicker material increasing in proportion. Jobs in 1/4" steel plate tends to run $3/lf. Cut cost also varies with required precision and edge quality. The above figures are mid-point. Cost is higher for complex artwork with small holes and sharp inside corners, lower for long straight lines and large radii.
